Our relations with Iran go back more than 500 years now. The role of the Embassy of Portugal is to consolidate and deepen this secular interaction, contributing to a better reciprocal knowledge between our people and to foster bilateral cooperation between both States in matters of common interest.
In 2021, for the fourth time, Portugal will hold the local Presidency of the European Union, from 1st January to the end of the month of June, in the absence of an EU Delegation in Tehran. We hope to fulfil this task successfully, in full coordination with our partners, with the same.
On the 16th of May, the Embassy of Brazil, in collaboration with the Embassy of Portugal, hosted an event to celebrate the World Portuguese Language Day, commemorated every year on the 5th of May, since its establishment by the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in 2009.
The event was attended by high-ranking representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Tehran University, Allameh Tabataba’I University, Iberoamerican Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, Iranian publishers and members of the lusophone community in Tehran.
This is the second yearly celebration in Iran of the international day of the Portuguese Language organized jointly by the Embassies of Brazil and Portugal.
We inform that from Sunday 15 May the Embassy of Portugal in Tehran will restart receiving applications for short-term visas (Schengen).
